Unless you have experienced cardiac surgery, you may not be able to fully understand the concerns of a patient approaching open-heart surgery.  Acknowledging the tremendous value of sharing anxieties and family concerns with someone who has recently had cardiac surgery, the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery has launched its “Visiting Hearts” program.

The decision to travel to Bergen County may have been one of the best that Bernard Sherman has ever made.  The 79-year-old Monroe Township, NJ resident and his wife were staying at his daughter’s home in Cresskill to take care of their grandson and look after the family dog while she and her husband were on vacation.
